The narrator of this timeless adventure story is the lad, Jim Hawkins, whose mother keeps the Admiral Benbow, an inn on the west coast of England in the 18th century. An old buccaneer takes up residence at the inn. He has in his sea chest a map to the hiding place of Captain Flint’s treasure.
A gang of cutthroats are determined to get his treasure map, and - led by the sinister, blind pirate, Pew - descend on the inn. But Jim Hawkins outwits them, grabs the map, and delivers it to Squire Trelawney. The Squire and his friend Dr. Livessy set off for Treasure Island in the schooner Hispaniola, taking Jim with them. Some of the crew are the squire’s faithful servants, but the majority are buccaneers recruited by the one-legged pirate, Long John Silver.
Jim discovers the pirates’ plan to seize the ship and kill the squire’s party, but warns them in time. After a series of thrilling fights and adventures, the pirates are finally defeated, and the treasure secured with the help of marooned pirate, Ben Gunn.

Also sprach Zarathustra was conceived and written by Friedrich Nietzsche during the years 1881 -1885; the first three Parts were published in 1883 and 1884. The book formed part of his ‘campaign against morality’, in which Nietzsche explored the ethical consequences of the ‘death of God’. Heavily critical not only of Christian values but also of their modern replacements, Thus spoke Zarathustra argues for a new value-system based around the prophecy of the Ubermensch, or Superman. For the first time, Nietzsche gives his philosophy a narrative frame: the founder of the ancient religion of Persia, Zarathustra, takes the central role. Rejected by society at large, Zarathustra gains a devoted band of followers to whom he delivers ‘discourses’ on a huge range of subjects. Haunted by visions and driven by his own ‘will to power’, Zarathustra eventually leaves these friends to return to his lonely mountain home, where he makes his most important discovery: that of the ‘eternal return’.
A literary as well as a philosophical masterpiece, Thus spoke Zarathustra survived an initially poor reception, to be recognised as a seminal text in modern culture. Its appropriation by the National Socialist movement in Germany early in the twentieth century has tainted its reputation unjustly; but there are signs that the rehabilitation of Nietzsche, and of this, his most incendiary work, is almost complete.

Alice is back in her room, stroking her cats - but not for long. Slipping through the Looking-Glass she meets another wild collection of fantasy characters including the Red and White Kings and Queens, Tweedledum and Tweedledee and is entertained by the poems Jabberwocky and The Walrus and the Carpenter.
Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There the sequel to Alice in Wonderland - is in some ways more ambitious and more consciously organized than its predecessor. Unlike most sequels, it is at least as good as the original work. As the title suggests, the fantasy world involves reversal or inversion through reflection, and also includes a more-or-less possible game of chess in which the characters themselves are players. Alice does not dream her way into the story, but instead gains access through the power of her imagination, melting, through the looking glass into that world which is always at least partly visible in it. Carroll also introduces into his second story a character more sympathetic than any in ‘Wonderland’, and perhaps based on himself -the charming and absurd White Knight, whose inventions include anklets for horses ‘to guard against the bites of sharks’.
